The British Red Cross is ready and able to respond in emergencies whether an individual crisis, a community incident or a national emergency.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to develop your career in Events Management. We are looking for an energetic and innovative manager to further develop the work of the Red Cross in Event First Aid (providing First Aid at public events). You will be responsible for managing and attending events including a number of key large-scale events across the Thames Valley Area (Berks, Bucks & Oxon). You will recruit, manage and develop staff and volunteers. You will also be involved in networking and establishing new relationships with voluntary and statutory agencies (in particular the emergency services) and will maximise opportunities for development and expansion of Event First Aid services. You will both be managing a budget and preparing budgets and annual operations plans.

You will need to have an understanding of monitoring and reviewing service standards and quality. You will also need to have a working knowledge of legislation relevant to the delivery of community services. Due to the nature of events and emergencies, some unsociable hours will be required as part of this role and you will need to be able respond to emergency situations, with 24 hour on call duties as required. You will also need to be able to work and travel extensively throughout the area on a regular basis and more widely in the UK as required.
