AVM’s interest in the Commission on the Future of Volunteering’s final report

Having had the opportunity to digest the recommendations, AVM has registered its interest to be actively involved in the following:

2.2 – Government working party on obstacles to volunteering

3.2 – Volunteer-involving organisations undertake a critical review of their ways of working.

5.4 – Training and support needs of managers

5.6 – Training for public service staff

6.3 – Regulatory bodies include assessment of how organisations involve, support and manage volunteers

We would also wish to be involved in:

2.4 -One department takes responsibility for volunteering

4.1 – New mechanism for reward and recognition of volunteers

5.5 – Public service staff be trained to enhance their understanding of volunteering

6.1 – A cabinet minister takes responsibility for volunteering
