Scope is running training for staff and has had a number of cancellations. We would like to open it up to AVM members. It is VERY last minute, so if you do want to go just email firstname.lastname@example.org so I can give your name to the trainer and make a copy of the below.
The trainer is Becki Cullen. Becki is an expereinced trainer in inclusive volunteer managment. The first part of the day will be dedicated to looking at the good practice processes that Scope uses to promote safe and effective volunteer management. the second half of the day is dedicated to the engagement of disabled volunteers.
Course title: Managing disabled and non-disabled volunteers
Location: Herefordshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs, YFC Centre, Beech Business Park, Tillington Road, Hereford HR4 9QJ
T: 01432 274187
Date and Time: 3rd March 2011. 10am to 4pm.
What we hope you will gain:
- An understanding of the principles involved in engaging volunteers
- Understanding the barriers to disabled people volunteering.
- Receive the tools to apply knowledge outside of the training day.
How you can prepare for the day:
You do not need to prepare anything for the day. However, we will be discussing the procedures expected within Scope and you may find it useful to peruse the attached “How to manage volunteers” guide.
A car park is also available.
Due to the late notice of this we are unable to take special requests for dietry requirements. A small buffet for vegetarian and non-vegetarians has been ordered. If you have access requirements please make your own arrangements. The trainer will provide an opportunity to ensure that access requirements are discussed and can hopefully be met during the course.
