2004     

A group of volunteer managers agree to set up their own peer-support group to meet quarterly.

2005

21 November – Andy Fryar from OzVPM visits the group to discuss how the Australasian Association of Volunteer Administrators was set up.

2006

11 January – Steve Gee, Rob Jackson, Caroline Loden and John Ramsey meet to brainstorm issues around the creation of an English professional body for volunteer managers.

22 February – First meeting of the AVM Steering Group

2007

24 April – Association of Volunteer Managers Limited incorporated as a Private Company limited by Guarantee.

23 May – First board meeting of AVM. The first directors are Kate Bowgett, Sean Cobley, Patrick Daniels, Steven Howlett, Steve Gee, Caroline Loden, Alan Murray, John Ramsey (Chair), Nikki Squelch, Debbie Usiskin.

4 June – Pre-launch event held at Scope

5 June – AVM officially launched (05/06/07)

2008

3 March – Passed the 100 members mark

23 September – First AGM held. Caroline Loden steps down as director. Alan Murray and Debbie Usiskin re-elected. Tracey Mealing elected.

2011

19 March – AVM holds its first annual conference

2012

Feb – AVM holds second conference: “‘Developing Ourselves Because No-one Else Is’ – Recognising and Developing Volunteer Managers”

2013

October – AVM holds third conference: “Finding Our Voice”
