The Association of Volunteer Managers is an independent membership body that supports, represents and champions people in volunteer management in the UK ,regardless of field, discipline or sector.
Our Directors are responsible for:
- setting the overall policy and strategic direction for AVM
- leading specific areas to develop and grow the organisation
- ensuring AVM is compliant as a company limited by guarantee
To enhance our organisation resilience and build capacity for growth we are seeking additional Directors to join AVM’s board. We a looking for people who can focus on the following areas:
|Conference||We have a successful conference which has grown year-on-year. If you are interested in joining the board and have experience in conference planning, delivery and coordination, then we would invite you to apply.|
|Digital||Support us with the development of our digital offer, including continued development of our website.|
|Events||We are seeking a someone who has knowledge or interest in the professional development of volunteer managers. It would be helpful if you have some understanding of planning and implementation of small, medium and large events, as well as budget management in this context. As a lead for our learning and development events, you will be confident to welcome the input of our members, build a sub committee, to help us shape a relevant programme events, for anyone working in volunteer management. You will be supported by our staff team with event delivery.|
|Marketing and Communications||As we continue to develop and grow, we are seeking individuals who can help us to share our successes, our story and our future, encouraging our members to be more involved, and more volunteer managers to join AVM. You will lead our communications across our five key business areas, to develop impactful and relevant communications. You will be supported by a team of staff and fellow board members.|
|Membership||Working with other directors, you will help develop strategies and products to retain our existing members, and grow our membership across all sectors, both for individual and organisational members.|
Ideally you will have direct experience in one of the above areas, however if you are keen to develop the skills, knowledge and experience required, we can help you to do that.
In return we ask you to commitment to the role for three years (length of term), an estimated time of 15 hours per month, plus attendance at the required six board meetings (weekdays, day time), two away days (can include weekend days) and one conference per year. All days are agreed by the board members in advance.
Attendance to board meetings can be via video conference if arranged in advance, and we will cover reasonable travel, accommodation and food expenses to enable attendance.
Only AVM members are eligible to participate in the election. Nominations should include your preferred area and detail your experience in this field.
