This Volunteers’ Week, we wanted to take a moment to introduce the incredible volunteer teams who are the driving force behind the Association of Volunteer Managers (AVM), and we thought that members may also be interested to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes here.

Our Volunteers ensure that AVM continues to be a valuable resource and supportive community for all volunteer managers, and we simply could not do what we do without them!

Here’s a look at the vital work that they undertake:

Event and Conference Volunteers: The members of the Event and Conference Planning Groups are the masterminds behind our learning events and annual conference. They handle everything from initial planning and organisation to ensuring everything runs smoothly on the day, making sure these gatherings are informative, inspiring, and valuable for everyone who attends.

Peer Support Networking Group Facilitators: The success of our Peer Support Networking Groups relies on our dedicated facilitators. They take the lead in organising and running the face-to-face meetings, and fostering a welcoming environment where members can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.

Mentoring Scheme volunteers: Our mentors are experienced volunteer managers who generously offer their time to guide and support those just starting out in the field. They share their knowledge and insights, helping new volunteer management professionals navigate their roles and careers.

Mentoring Scheme Lead volunteer: The entire Mentoring scheme is also expertly supported by an expert volunteer in coaching and mentoring who provides essential guidance on how the program runs, and delivers crucial support sessions throughout each mentoring cycle.

Resources volunteers: Our Resources Volunteers are currently undertaking the crucial task of reviewing all of AVM’s online materials. Their meticulous work ensures that our resources remain current, accurate, and genuinely helpful to all volunteer managers seeking guidance and information.

Video Editing volunteers: Most of our events are recorded, and our Video Editing Volunteers help to ensure that people can professionally progress in a way that suits them, by providing on-demand videos that are available for all AVM Members.

Board of Directors: Our entire Board of Directors is made up of volunteers. Each Board member takes responsibility for a specific area of focus for AVM, providing strategic leadership, oversight, and direction. Their commitment ensures AVM continues to grow and serve its members effectively.

The AVM staff team are grateful for the incredible support that we receive from our volunteers who enable us to achieve so much more for our members. We are consistently inspired by their commitment and passion.

And we’d also like to thank everyone who took the time to leave a message of support for our volunteers. Your messages of appreciation help to highlight the impact of their work on the wider volunteer management profession.
