We’ll explore what AI is, the power of large language models (LLMs), how to navigate the AI landscape, and provide practical advice for going from zero to one with AI implementation.

You’ll discover how AI is transforming everyday work, gain insights from real-world implementation examples, and learn a strategic approach to adopting AI tools that deliver maximum impact with minimal effort. This session bridges the gap between AI theory and practical application.

The journey begins with an accessible introduction to AI fundamentals and today’s influential AI platforms. We’ll explore the most effective tools available for volunteering professionals right now and guide you through the essential mindset shift needed for AI integration. You’ll learn how to avoid common implementation pitfalls while adopting a practical 20/80 approach—achieving 80% of potential results with just 20% of the effort.

We’ll finish the session with a reflection and planning session using Action Learning Sets – to move from theory to implementation.  AVM has produced resources to accompany this event.

About the trainer

David Homan has a unique background combining AI and philosophy. Not a developer by trade, David successfully built an entire application on Android and iOS using AI and applies artificial intelligence in his day-to-day work. As a natural generalist, he excels at combining multiple fields with AI serving as the connective glue. David is the Training and Community Lead at AI Heroes.
