This Masterclass is aimed at those who are new to being in a strategy role, looking to improve their skills in developing their volunteer strategy or wanting to pick up hints and tips on horizon scanning to influence the volunteering strategy for your organisation.

Laura Elson, Independent Consultant and Researcher

Laura has worked in volunteer involvement for 18 years’ and now works as an independent consultant specialising in supporting organisations to build ambitious and cohesive volunteer strategies that build movements around a cause.
Laura started her career at university researching team dynamics in football volunteer programmes, and went on to work in volunteer leadership roles at Volunteer Centre Leeds, Parkinson’s UK, and England Netball. In 2015 she worked with Nesta and NCVO to research, test and develop prison based volunteer centres and in 2018 set up a consultancy to focus on volunteering strategy projects full time. As a consultant she has helped a wide range of organisations develop innovative volunteer strategies including The Marine Conservation Society, England Netball, The Churches Conservation Trust, The Solicitors’ Charity, The Peak District National Park Authority and the MS Society.
Laura is an Associate Consultant with NCVO, Consultants for Good and Fair Development. She volunteers as Strategic Lead for Volunteering with Yorkshire Netball, and as a trustee of Getting on Board, the national trustee recruitment and diversity charity.
