Conflict is an inevitable part of working with people, especially in volunteer-involving organisations where diverse backgrounds, experiences, and challenges converge.
This two-hour session will equip you with the knowledge and tools to better understand where conflict comes from, recognise the warning signs and respond effectively to manage and de-escalate difficult situations – thereby helping to create safer and more positive environments for everyone.
This event will cover:
- Understanding common factors behind confrontational behaviour
- Recognising the five stages of conflict escalation
- Identifying conflict warning signs in ourselves and others
- Exploring strategies to prevent conflict escalation and address unacceptable behaviour
- Appreciating the importance of reporting conflict and how to do so effectively

About the speaker
Nicola Lake has extensive experience both working and volunteering in the non-profit sector, leading on volunteer management and developing training initiatives at a variety of organisations.
