Ticket prices: Members £43 | Non-members £65

Do you ever find yourself caught between volunteers who don’t see eye to eye, wishing you had a clearer way to help them move forward?

This session will give you some practical mediation tools that you can use even if ‘conflict resolution’ isn’t in your job title.

Disagreements are a natural part of team dynamics and when handled early and with care, they can strengthen understanding and connection.

This interactive workshop will introduce you to the principles and practice of mediation. You’ll learn how to approach conflict constructively, support open conversations, and help volunteers move forward collaboratively.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session, you will:

  • Understand what mediation is (and isn’t) and how it supports volunteer relationships.
  • Recognise types and signs of conflict that arise in volunteer teams.
  • Gain practical tools and communication techniques, including reframing, summarising, and managing triggers.
  • Build confidence to guide constructive conversations in a safe, supportive way.

Who should attend

Volunteer managers, coordinators, and anyone leading teams of volunteers and looking to strengthen their communication and conflict-resolution skills.
