How do we support volunteers through organisational change?
What approaches and strategies can we employ to support our volunteer teams through change?
Organisational change is taking place in many charitable organisations across the UK as charities are forced to make difficult decisions to cut back on services and staff and change the nature and scope of those services. Not-for-profits are facing many challenges including economic uncertainty, an increased demand for services, recruitment difficulties, increased legal obligations, changing needs of those accessing services and shifts in the political landscape.
These challenges and the changes they bring mean that good communication and effective change management are more vital than ever for staff and volunteer morale. In this session, we will be joined by Jeremy Board from St John Ambulance, who will share his understanding on the nature of change and how engagement and communication can help facilitate change and support people in moving from fearful resistance to positive commitment.
This event will cover:
- The nature of change
- How change affects people
- How to navigate and facilitate the change journey
- A model for facilitating change
About the speaker
Jeremy Board is the Change and Communications Lead at St John Ambulance. He has over 30 years of experience working in communications to facilitate change at organisations such as Apple, Royal Mail, University of Portsmouth, West Sussex County Council, Aetna International and St John Ambulance. During his career Jeremy has developed an intimate knowledge of change and how it can negatively and positively impact people.
