Are you new to Volunteer Management? Is Safeguarding part of your role and you are not sure where to start?

In the first of our new 101 series, this session will introduce you to the basics of safeguarding within a volunteer management context.

This session will cover:

  • Safeguarding within a volunteer management context
  • Your legal responsibilities and where you can go for further support and information
  • Insights, case studies and examples on how other organisations have approached this area

Our 101 sessions are comprehensive introductory sessions for people new to volunteer management or new to specific aspects of the role.

Speaker

Katie Beeston – Safeguarding Lead, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland

Katie’s background prior to this role centred around HR, people and business management. Her journey into the third sector began with various voluntary roles before joining the HR team at Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

Katie is hugely passionate about the voluntary sector, and the essential role that good governance and robust safeguarding practices play. Having led safeguarding procedural and cultural change across CHSS over the last 3-4 years, Katie is keen to share the importance of understanding both regulatory compliance and best practice, and what we really mean when we say safeguarding is everyone’s business.
