The Code of Conduct sets out a framework of behaviour expected of members of the Association of Volunteer Managers. All members are required as a condition of their membership to adhere to the Code of Conduct. Failure to do so may lead to expulsion from the Association.

Professional Conduct

All members of the Association of Volunteer Managers undertake to:

  1. Conduct themselves at all times when acting as a volunteer manager with integrity and honesty.
  2. Respect the dignity of volunteers, respecting their choice to volunteer and their choice not to, or to cease, volunteering.
  3. Not exploit any relationship with a volunteer for personal benefit or gain.
  4. Strive to uphold good practice standards in volunteer management at all times.
  5. Strive to uphold the Compact on Volunteering at all times.
  6. Work to ensure their organisations support the role of volunteer managers.
  7. Act according to the highest standards and visions of their organisation, and profession.
  8. Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations relating to volunteer management.

Membership conduct

All members of the Association of Volunteer Managers undertake to:

  1. Uphold the good name and reputation of the Association of Volunteer Managers at all times.
  2. Work to support other members.
  3. Actively contribute towards the services and development of the Association of Volunteer Managers.
  4. Not knowingly act in a manner inconsistent with this Code, or knowingly cause or permit others to do so.

Breach of the Code of Conduct

A complaint regarding a breach of the Code of Conduct may be made by either a member of the Association of Volunteer Managers or a member of the public.

The complaint should be in writing, addressed to the Chair of the Disciplinary Committee and made no later than three months after the date of the alleged breach.
